Nach einer ziemlich unspektakulaeren Anreise bin ich gestern abend so gegen 20.00 Uhr Ostkuestenzeit im Doubletree Hotel in Rochester/NY angekommen. Das Hotel hat mir gleich gefallen und nicht nur, weil der Fitness Raum rund um die Uhr geoeffnet ;) Das besondere Markenzeichen dieses Hotels sind wohl die Baeume im Innenraum des Atriumgebaeutes. Der Innenpool laesst einen in dem Glauben, in den Tropen zu sein und die andere oeffentlichen Plaetze (Reception und Bar) sind klasse ausgestattet. Ich hatte Glueck und habe ein Einzelzimmer bekommen (normalerweise muss man sich ein Zimmer teilen, doch da die Nummer der weiblichen Teilnehmer ungleich ist.... ;) Mein Raum ist ziemlich gross.
Nachdem ich ausgepackt hatte, hab ich mich auf die Suche nach meinen Mitstreitern gemacht. Ich stiess auf vier, mit denen ich dann auch noch fuer ein spaetes Abendessen und ein Glass Wein an der Bar bis ca. 23.00 Uhr zusammenblieb.
Um 5.15 Uhr Ostkuestenzeit (welches 2.15 Uhr an der Westkueste, also in Irvine ist) bin ich ins Fitnesscenter. Spaeter fuhren alle 14 Teilnehmer des CSR Trainings zusammen zum Paychex Trainingcenter. Ich muss sagen, Rochester ist recht schoen. Alles ist gruen und sie haben hier diese tollen Haeuschen mit den superschoenen Veranden.
Wir bekommen Fruehstueck und Mittag im Trainingcenter. Direkt nach dem Mittag bekamen wir unseren Midterm Test. Ich habe den Test als erstes beendet und das gibt mir so ein komisches Gefuehl. Hoffentlich bin ich nicht wieder zu schnell gewesen und hab mir mit Fluechtigkeitsfehlern alles versaut ;( Da wir aber morgen bereits die Ergebnisse bekommen, kann ich dann naeheres berichten!
Wir durften, nachdem wir den Test beendet hatten, bereits das Trainingscenter verlassen und somit war ich gegen 16.00 Uhr am Pool. Die komplette Gruppe geht heute abend dann zum beruehmten "Dinosaurus BBQ".
Ach uebrigens - vielleicht kommt etwas wirklich tolles am Mittwoch auf mich zu. Nur soviel, Freunde von uns haben gelesen, dass ich nach Rochester komme und vermutlich nicht die Gelegenheit haben werde, zu den Niagara Faellen zu fahren....;)
After a pretty unspectacular travel I arrived yesterday evening around 8.00 pm EST in Rochester/NY at the Doubletree Hotel. I liked the hotel right from the beginning not just because the gym is open 24 hours ;) As you can see on the pictures the hotel has trees inside the huge atrium-style building. The indoor pool makes you feel as if you were in the tropics and the public areas are very well appointed. I was lucky to get my own room (usually you have to share with a roommate but the number of femal attendees for the Paychex CSR training is uneven ;). The room is pretty large, and their is a nice "indoor balcony" where you walk around and look down.
After unpacking I went downstairs to see if I could find some of my classmates. I was lucky and four of us went for a late dinner. We ended the evening around 11 pm with a glass of wine at the bar.
At 5.15 am EST (which is actually 2.15 am on the West Coast.....) I went to the gym. Later this morning all 14 of us (only one guy is in our group) met at the reception and went together to the Paychex training center. I have to say Rochester is pretty nice. Everything is really green and they have these cute houses with the great front porches here. We are able to get breakfast and lunch at the training center which is kind of nice so we don't have to buy the expensive hotel stuff ;)
After lunch we took our midterm test. I finished first, which I don't like 'cause now I have the feeling I rushed again..... But actually I have a good feeling and we'll see tomorrow how I did! We were able to leave the training center early so we did arrive at the hotel around 4 pm. The whole group is going out for the "famous" Rochester Dinosaurs BBQ tonight.
BTW - maybe something really, really exciting is coming up for me on Wednesday. Just this much - friends of us read the post that I am coming to Rochester but probably will not be able to make it to the Niagara Falls..... ;)
