Was fuer ein toller Morgen / what a great morning
It's Wednesday. The second day back in California, first day I've to go back to work and again I woke up at 3.30 am!!! That stinks. I tried to fall in sleep again but it didn't work. The battery of my IPod was empty, I wasn't even able to listen to a spoken book, which usually helps me finding the way back into sleep. Herbert asked me around 4.15 am all of a sudden if I also can not sleep. Great....we are both rolling from one side to another - Jetlag! Shiloh heard us talking and came to my bedside, ready for the morning walk. No girl, we need to sleep a little bit more! Whatever I tried (counting sheeps....) there were a lot things wandering through my mind. I looked back on the things in Germany and I also thought about my neighbor who came over yesterday morning, with her coffee, just to say, that she missed us, that she's glad that we are back and that we never should move! Nice, isn't it? At 5.30 am I decided to get up. I turned on the coffee maker, took an egg out of the fridge (Shy is getting it over her food - and it should be not too cold!) and than Shiloh and I went with a flashlight on our morning walk. It was still dark but my neighbors, right hand side, were washing their cars.....??? Back home I took my coffee pot, opened every door and window (it's really warm in California), gave Shiloh her breakfast and ate a gingerbread (yes right - I'm not back to normal yet!). And now I'm sitting here in our sun room, Herbert is sitting next to me (but not talking - he needs more coffee) and I'm getting tired now. Great .... now it's almost time to ride on the motorcyle to work!

Zurueck in OC / back in the O.C.
Seit bitte geduldig!
Ok, here we are - back in Orange County, California.
We had a wonderful, busy trip to Germany. It was great, like I mentioned in an earlier post, to see our families and friends. Everybody still wanted to meet us (it wasn't the way "out of their eyes - out of their minds" and that felt very, very good) but we weren't able to meet everybody and we feel sorry about that. Maybe the next time? Most of all I feel so blessed that I was able to see my grandmother.
On Saturday last week we did celebrate, with 50 other people, the birthdays of Herbert's sister and her husband (their birthdays are only 11 days apart of each other). It was an awesome party and it was great that my brother and his wife were also part of it.
On Monday morning we had to say Good bye to everybody - the hardest part of our vacation trip to Germany. Also I tried to back off my tears ....I needed a lot of tissues!
Our flight to Germany was from LA to London Heathrow and further to Hamburg. The flight back to California started in Duesseldorf to Chicago O'Hara with ultimate destination Los Angeles. Melanie picked us up and drove us home. There was already Mindy waiting for us. She brought Shiloh back and I was overwhelmed to see her joy to be with us again. She looks great and we're so thankful of having such good friends.
Our night was not perfect but ok. We woke up pretty early and decided to go out for breakfast - as a vacation closing. We also did grocery shopping and the washer was running a lot. In the earlier afternoon we went to the doggie beach and enjoyed the new Shiloh....She was running into the water, was "telling" another dog, that she is not willing to share her fetch and she was barking, like a real dog ;) The two weeks with Bossie, Bianca, Nava, Charlie, Sachie and Rocky did make her learn a lot. Also she is together the whole time with different dogs....it seems like she needed not only the surgery but also a vacation!
Now the vacation time is over and we all have to go back to normal business and on a little diet.
As soon as I'm able to put pictures on this blog again, I will do so! Be patient ;)

Von Hasen und Pferden / of rabbits and horses
Was fuer ein wundervolles Tier!
Beside all the good stuff we're doing here in Germany ... we were able to see Sabine and Matthias today. Herbert and Sabine know each other from the earlier years while I did know her just because we're writing e-mails. We both got to meet Matthias today the first time. It was a really nice afternoon. Typical German : we got coffee and cake (thank you so much for you hospitality - we enjoyed it a lot!). After a little while Paula, Sabine and Matthias daughter, joined us. She showed us her rabbits Willi and Fridoline. Too cute! I was just a little bit scared that they will run away while I was having them on my lap. Later we went to Sabine and Paula's horse Gracia. What a beautiful animal. Sabine, you can be proud to be her owner! I had a lot of fun brushing Gracia but when Sabine asked me to sit on Gracia I said "No". Now I'm sorry that I lost this chance - it's long a ago that I was sitting on the back of a horse!

KCE sind hier / KCE are here
My brother (C.) and his wife (K.) were on vacation in south France with their RV. Today they stopped bye and we'll have three days to spend together before they have to continue their way back home. I was so happy to see them and Enni (E.), their unbelievable cute dog.

We six (including Ruth and Wolfgang of course) went for dinner into a Greek restaurant and enjoyed to be together again!

Well, we were 10 days in the north part of Germany and today was the day to say "good bye". I can tell you - it's nice to live in California, it's great to have vacation time in Germany with family and friends - but it's hard, painfully hard, to say "good bye". I cannot go into details because I would probably start crying again, but Herberts family lives in central Germany and we want to see them too.
Usually it takes us around 3,5 to 4 hours to drive to Herberts sister. Today it took us over 6 hours because there was one road constraction after another on the Autobahn - crap! I'm happy that I will be able to see my brother and my sister in law in a couple of days. They are on vacation in France right now, but the will stop by on their way back home! I can't wait to see them!
